Invitation to a discussion with former UN Interpreter
March 16, 2017
As a German interpreter for the UN, Susanne Kilian experienced on a daily basis how quickly misunderstandings arise within international projects, and how time-consuming and expensive these may turn out to be. Based on more than 15 years of UN experience, Kilian has developed a unique “communication toolkit”, reflecting a range of insights. These include not only a cultural and academic understanding of international communication but also a neuro / chemical understanding of how a listener “hears” what is communicated.
She has been teaching her “English Code” and “German Code” in politics, media and industry, and works with The Deutsche Bundesbank, Deutsche Welle, Parliamentary State Secretary Elke Ferner and Federal Minister Manuela Schwesig.
Her book “Don’t let me be misunderstood!” was published in June 2015 by Random House. GABC is thrilled to partner with the German Language Department of the Goethe-Institut Boston to hear this engaging speaker talk on the subject of “The German Code – how to better understand German corporate culture“.
Where: Goethe-Institut Boston, 170 Beacon Street, Boston MA 02116
When: Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 7PM
Cost to attend: $20 GABC Members / $35 Non-Members. Space is limited. Please RSVP and purchase tickets in advance to assure seating. Light refreshments will be served.
